The Ultimate Summit

Bischofshofen - Zell am See - Großglockner Hochalpenstraße (high alpine road)

Over one million people drive up the Großglockner high alpine road every year and thereby make it the 2nd most visited tourist attraction in Austria.

The world famous alpine road ends right infront of the landmark of the national park Hohe Tauern and enables an unforgettable experience: to stand opposite the highest mountain and the largest galcier in Austria, the Großglockner (3.798m) and the Pasterze . On the way there you experience a 4.000km long journey to the Arctic.

On the 1.500m ascent you cross through all vegetation zones from the corn fields to the infinite ice. Along the Glockner road numerous viewing points, six educational paths and two info centres make you see and experience the nature. You learn what to look for in order to fully enjoy the experience in the high alpine nature.
